Description
Nepheline syenite is a feldspar-like mineral with a higher alkali content, so it melts earlier than potash or soda feldspar. It is widely used as the main flux in mid-fire glazes and to lower the maturing temperature of clay bodies.
Common uses
- Primary flux in mid-fire glazes
- Lowering the firing temperature of bodies
- Replacing feldspar in recipes for a stronger melt
