Description

Petrol Green is a ready-made ceramic stain for adding colour to your own clay bodies, slips, engobes and glazes. Stains are pre-fired, so colours are more stable and predictable than raw oxides.

How to use

As a starting point, add around 5–15% stain to a clay body or slip, or 3–8% to a glaze, by dry weight. Mix thoroughly and sieve glazes and slips for an even colour.

The final shade depends on firing temperature, kiln atmosphere and the base glaze or clay, and different shades can be achieved by firing at different temperatures. Always fire a test tile before committing to a full batch.
